CSS div position in ie & firefox

hi there,
Im relatavley new to css and im wondering if anyone can help with a problem.
I am trying to position a series of links on a nav bar - but when i use the "position:absolute;top:150px"
selectors applied to a div named #navbar - Ie will display them different to firefox - as in bunched up and what not.
This is driving me mad and i have tried several things but always get different results in both browsers.
Does anyone know why this is so and what can be done to correct it?

- the offending items are the top navs "home etc.." all i want to do is nudge them down so they are in the middle of the orange bar. I feel my cheese my may slide off my cracker if i dont fix this soon!

Odd - they look identical (and correct) for me in both IE (6) and Fx (1.5).

Hopefully this is soon enough to save your cheese! ;-)

I see the same thing in IE6 and FF as well. Are you using an old version of IE?

sorry - i should have told you - i removed the offending articles for testing - what i was trying to say is that the position they are now needs nudging down - if i apply the positioning it goes monkey spanner.
So what you are seeing is the css tags without the formatting applied!

the posititionig is not perfect. it needs to be in the vertical middle. thats whats bringing my bread out of the bread maker (NO CRUST) it does work but i'm not happy - look where it is - not in the right place - it needs to be IN THE MIDDLE. sory for shouting peeeps but i'm one plate short of a picnic!

Have you tried something simple like adding 10px of top padding to the navbar div?

#navbar {
   padding-top: 10px;
}
