I have a new office going in. I was curious if I hung sets off the main site over the wan is there any way for the CSE to "tag" those sets so that the carrier could put different 911 address information for them than the rest of the sets using the same trunks? I can use different IP addresses than the main site phones if that would help. They are 20 miles apart and in two different cities. The CSE is on release 5 and everything is patched and all firmware is current.

You need to determine if the two cities are serviced by the same E911 Selective Router in the PSTN. If this is the case, then you can define an ERL for the remote location and adjust the ESA properties of that ERL to send the appropriate CLID on their E911 calls.

You may have to purchase PinPoint, or PS-ALI, or whatever the local LEC calls their PS-ALI service though to send those foreign numbers on your PRI.

Like I said, the Selective Router that services the area will be the deciding factor if you can trunk all 911 from 1 location. Some SR service areas cover entire states, some only cities or counties. You need to talk to the LEC to see what that network topology is.

What area are you in? I know the infrastructure in quite a few states and may be able to assist.

I'm in Omaha and the new site would be in Bellevue.

Ross,

I am in Omaha too, and I am almost certain that Bellevue (Sarpy County) and Omaha (Douglas County) have seperate 911 call centers.

John

It NOT the 911 Call Center.

PSAPs are connected to selective routers. SRs service MANY PSAPs.

NJ for example has 4 SRs but they all act a a single virtual SR, so you can trunk from anywhere in the state and reach a PSAP anyplace else.

Georgia, on the other hand has about 6 Selective Routers with their own service areas.

You need to find out what the network looks like in Omaha. It will NEVER cross a state boundary though.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.
