Im looking for opinions on whether i should upgrade to cs2 from cs or just hold off?

We don't know what you normally do with Photoshop so how can we know what advice to offer? If you are simply looking for general thoughts, check out a lengthy thread already running wild at

You probably don't "need" it. However, if you don't have the other CS1 apps, you'd do well to purchase the premium version of the wuite at the "upgrade from photoshop" price.

Illustrator CS2 ahs very worthwhile upgrades, especially if you don't own CS1, and Indesign now has WYSIWYG font menus, like Ill CS1 had.

dagger2002, simply saying that you use Photoshop a lot does not really help to explain what you would be looking for in an upgrade. Photoshop can be used by web, print and video graphic designers: PSCS2 has different new features for these different sets of designers. You should obviously check out the new features page on adobe.com to see if any of the new features are of benefit to you and your specific field. The upgrades are made to simplifiy repetitive tasks. If you don't normally do these repetitive tasks, then it may fine to stick with PSCS1.

The upgrades for PSCS2 mostly effect photographers. As a designer and avid fan of all that is Adobe I find that, except for a few features, that may be used only occationally, Neither CS or CS2 have much more to offer
than PS7
