Our vendor is trying to get us to upgrade our cs1000e to a cs1000m. Is there any reason to do this? my understanding is that after version 7.6 that avaya is not releasing any more upgrades for the cs1000 and the end of support is suppose to be 2018. So why would I upgrade something that isnt going to be supported or be upgraded any further?

An M is a multi group machine, do you have capacity issues?

We havnt yet. We may need to throw some more ipe shelves for media cards but as for capacity we are good right now. I understand that the only think i will gain is the ability to run a remote cabinet thru a metro e connection. And the media cards are replaced with media gateways. Does upgrading to M get my closer to avayas platform? My vendor speaks in colors where we are nortel we are blue and avaya is red . IS there a way to get purple? lol

Adding more IPE shelves can put you into a multi group machine. A media card and media gateways are 2 completely different things

Do you mean migrate from a CS1000M to a CS1000E?

I dont think its possible to migrate to an M switch and neither buy a new one today..
Only way to get a CS1000M to 7.6 is to have an old 61c/81c or a 1000M older then 7.6.
Avaya promotes the CS1000E as its a more modern machine.
