I am looking to find out how to interface GPS clocking source to a CS1000E system. Has anybody done this? If so could you provide me any good docs or point me in the right direction.

We are looking to tie the CS1000e call servers into an external Global Clocking source. We are just using a GPS system to access the Global clock. Has anyone done this before?

simply create a PRI with no channels built, make it your primary reference clock, and connect it to the sync (in this case a T1 ESF) output of your GPS box. You can also use it as the BITS clock input for ATM and SONET gear. Hope that helps...

Thanks. I am also checking with mt BITS vendor for any white papers they may have that discribes the integration.

nhphoneguy Thanks - My Nortel engineer was surprised of your suggestion but fully understood it. He also added that Nortel does not support it. Boy am I surprised :)

not sure what they wouldn't support. A T1 is a T1, whether or not it comes from your LEC or a black box in the rack. We have been doing this for over 10 years at multiple sites with no issues. There were a couple of solar flares that knocked out the receiver for a minute or 2, but with dual rubidium oscillators, the holdover time is something on the order of 14 days....
