Hi All,

My customer has a CS1000 with 4.50 W. Last week the customer complained that the call waiting feature on all the phones have stopped working.

They all have M39xx phones and no IP Phones.

I have tried installing the latest deplists, but in vain.

Any thoughts if some package corruption or anything of this sort has happened?

Thanks again for sharing your valuable inputs!!

your using call waiting instead of a second line?

make sure that these phones don't have HTA, since Hunting will take precedence.

This might help. There was no configuration changes, and yet the Call waiting stopped on its own.Pasting below, one of the extn's and RDR Data.

Forward Busy Denied, Forward No Answer Denied, Hunt Denied... where do you expect it to go? (and CWT???)

DocVic

Need help?

Well I'll take a stab at this but really don't have much clue ... based on Docs (since we haven't used CWT) check LD 15 to see what your parameters are setup as still on your CWT features ... might be worth a shot. Or if you could better explain how it is 'not working' as I am basically assuming the Call Wait flash or buzz issue to alert the caller that they have a call waiting.

CWBZ Call Waiting Buzz basic-1
(NO) YES First field-Provide two second buzz on exceeding
upper CWCL or CWTM threshold.
(NO) YES Second field-Buzz on first call entering queue.
CWCL Call Waiting Call Limit basic-1
(0)-255 (0)-255
Lower and upper thresholds.
The Call Waiting lamp starts flashing when number
of calls in the queue exceeds the upper threshold.
The lamp continues to flash until the number of
calls in queue is less than the lower threshold.
Enter 0 to disable this feature.
(0)-1000 (0)-1000
Lower and upper thresholds defined as a
percentage of the active consoles when OPT =
FACA.
When the FACA/FACD option is changed, a new
value for CWCL must be set or the default values
are used. The CWCL values for the tenant-level
are set equal to the customer-level values. CWCL
is also prompted in LD 93.
CWTM (0)-511 (0)-511 basic-1
Lower and upper thresholds for Call Waiting Time.
The Call Waiting lamp starts flashing when the call
in the queue exceeds the upper threshold. The
lamp continues to flash until the wait time is less
than the lower threshold. Enter 0 to disable this
feature.
CWUP (NO) YES Call Waiting queue Update dcon-15
Prompted with M2250 Attendant Console (DCON)
package 140. The M2250 type consoles can be
notified every time there is a change to the Call
Waiting queue.

The call waiting key is configured on KEY 1 on all the phones.

Not sure what is happening and i feel helpless from here.

Someone was mentioning that it could be software package corruption issue.

Could that be so?

How do you add a new toll free number(855)in the CS 1000?

do an enhanced trace and have the person on the phone, and make a call to the key 0 again, see if you get any message or error.
most likely there is a BUG or error generated when the second call goes in....

did you sysload/INI after applying the deplist?

Just tried making a test call:

Firstly i made a external call to the extension and it was ringing.

Immediately from another phone i made the call to the same extension. Result was i was getting a busy tone.

Ideally speaking, correct me if i am wrong... is when CWT is configured, the second caller is suppose to get a ring back..aint he...

If so, then what is it that is causing it to NOT WORK??

If your only reason is for the other person to get ring back it is much much simpler to just setup a second line as a rollover - that way it informs your employee they have another call and they can choose to put their current call on hold to answer it. As GHTROUT said - CWT has no application on a multi-line phone. I would just stop trying to get it to work as the 2nd line method works like a charm and it is tried and tested. Maybe CWT is only applicable to certain phones? This just tells you that most people on this forum don't use it.

RESOLVED :)))

It was a specific extension problem...

Just copied the working phone configuration and it worked fabuolously....

though i am still not sure what was the problem...

May be that particular phone template corruption..

Anyways,, thanks guys for helping me with your ideas and thoughts..

Cheers!!!!

The trouble was caused by CLS SWD Station to station call waiting denied. Changing to CLS SWA allowed station to station call waiting.
On your test you made an outside call to the phone.
Then made a second call from an inside phone and received a busy.
If you made another outside call, the call waiting would have worked with CLS SWD.
The CWT key was used if you were short on additional numbers for Key 1 to hunt.
Early systems used 3 digit extensions and ran out of numbers.
It was also used to prioritize outside calls over inside calls.
You can only receive calls on a CWT key. You cannot call out.
