I have a CS1000 Release 5.5 with remote MGC at 8 multiple sites some over CPE fiber and some over Cox fiber. At two of the 4 sites over seperate legs of Cox fiber we are seeing random resets of the MGC cards at the same time. This is usually in the middle of the night at sites that are closed. Customer says they are running no data backup or anything at that time. The data network never showes any error. We have replaced all equipment at one of the 2 sites with new equipment with no change. We are waiting to engage Avaya tech support until we upgrade site to 7.5 in a couple of weeks but do not expect that to change problem

Could be carrier's reversal of a redundant fiber ring to a protection for maintenance that drops just enough packets for the MGC to lose connection to the CP.

FWIW, I've seen similar on my CS1K 7.5. Not routine, no pattern, but it happens...usually in the wee hours.

I think I would check for the latest loadware for the MGC's

We are on the latest loadware for 5.5, I will look into the carrier reversal as it is on a fiber ring. However ther are 2 other MGE that are on same fiber ring that do not reset

Have you verified the logs to see if you are getting a loss of connection to the MGC? If you does not receive its poll within the allowable timeframe it restarts to try to recover.
You data network may not show a failure or error but its a matter of the call server and MGC not receiving packets for a time.
