Hello,

I'm a system admin with very little experience with PBX and telecom work. This work was just thrown on me being the most technical person at the site, so please forgive me if my knowledge is less than adequate. I want to build a conference room line for a Polycom that is able to dial the outside world but not receive incoming calls. Is there a simple way to do that in CS1000 Element Manager? I have direct access to the Unified Call manager and switch. The previous telecom tech was using a Non DID for this purpose but we found the Non DID could not call certain 800, 877, and 855 numbers. So we built a normal DN and it resolved the issue. However, the DN gets disrupted if a user calls the line directly. I need to build a DN that would ignore or block all incoming calls. Any help would be much appreciated!

Mahalo,
Titus

Hello Titus

A non DID extension would have done what you had wanted, but I expect that the barring on that particular set had prevented you from dialing certain outgoing numbers.

I think you need to print off the working outgoing set (DID) and the (NON DID) set to compare the differences such as CLS = TLD, UNR etc, TGAR and NCOS settings as I would expect that they are different.

If you are PRI you can create an IDC table and send the DID's you don't want to come in, to a message stating "You have reached a non-working number at ****" That would be the quickest way to fix this issue, or you can create a CLID entry for those phones that send out a number your carrier recognizes. Then you can use a non-DID and the CLID you send out is a working DID number, maybe the main number. That would work as well. Or just tell your carrier to allow all calls to go out, regardless of the CLID. Just make sure you are PIC'd correctly so your billing is not messed up.

Thank you, Firebird Scrambler! I will give that a try and let you know how it goes.

You can also block incoming DID calls with Scheduled Access Restrictions. I use this in schools to block incoming DID calls to the classroom during class hours. Before and after those hours the DID call routes normally.

Another simple solution to block did calls
