Happy New Year all! I am in search of basic help with learning to building a digital set (3904) using the CLI. We have a CS1000 r6.0. I am very new to Nortel and know little. We do have Element Manager and it helps me make it thru most issues. I do want to learn the CLI and have picked up on most day to day commands but building a digital set from scratch is way to advanced for me. I have used set copy but hate to not know what is going on. Any direction is appreciated and thanks to all who answer. When the chips are down this is the first place I look for help. Thank you all who help rookies like me. Cheers[cheers]

The best way to learn is to go to LD 11

REQ NEW

Just hit enter at every prompt and only answer the ones that force you to respond.

Look those prompts up.

Then print it out and notice what the phone defaulted as - compare it to another phone print out. Now look up each prompt and response.

Here are the books you want. Don't try for every book under the sun - these are all you need: http://www.ghtrout.com/micromerl/index.html

This page has links to the the useful resources for beginners: http://www.ghtrout.com/introverlay/

Don't let anyone tell you to do everything in LD 20. The books are designed for these: Analog phones in LD 10; Digital phones in LD 11. Period.
