Have a cs1000 that is getting upgraded this weekend to i think 7.1. after this upgrade i have been informed that i will have to change the "node number" on each set because it is now a 4 digit node number. I have over 350 voip 1140E telephones that im going to have to physcially touch and change that number over a weekend and the phones range from 1 mile away to 100 miles away. my question is does anyone know a way to change the node number remotely? i can ssh into the phones but am very limited in the pdt commands. and i have no clue on how to get into the vxshell. Any assistance would be helpful

Well it really depends on what your Node changed to. We have Nodes 4000, 4001 and 4002 and use what is called 'relaxed node' config which means you set every phone to Node 400. This allows registration to 4000, 4001 and 4002.
So, good luck because if you changed from 100 to 1000 and all your phones are 100 you are good to go. But if you had your phones on 101 and you changed the node to 1000 then yes you have to change every phone
This does work as we have 500+ IP phones right now set up this way.
Also, you should be on 7.5.
I don't think you can set the Node via DHCP string but you can set S1, S2 and numerous other variables:

You may be able to set the node via a System.prv file that the 1140 reads from a provisioning server, but I have not set that up as we are still running some i2000 series phones too (that can't use system provisioning).

You can use 3 or 4 digit node numbers on release 7.5 because we have that in place right now with now issues. Who told you you have to use 4 digits node numbers? They should do some home work before making untrue statements. Good Luck

I wouldn't think you'd need to change node numbers. I have the same unique 3-digit node numbers at 15+ CS1000E and CS1000B 7.5 sites that they had when they were orignially installed under version 4.5.
If you have to absolutely change the Node ID numbers, the phones are 1100, 1200 and 2007 sets , and you have the latest firmware installed on them, you can use a provisioning file to set the Node ID on individual phones remotely.
