CrystalEnterprise 8.5 / Plan Reports with "automated Params"

How could Parameters be automatically set by using the planningTask. Example: Param is 5000 for the first instance after scheduling the first instance a second instance should automatically be generated with the Pama-value 5001. afterword instance 3 with parm-value 5002.... an so on...

any ideas??

Unfortunately parameters are not dynamic in CR/CE. You can schedule multiple instances of a report, and you can automate the prcess using external code.

I'm not sure what you mean by a planning task, please elaborate.

We developed a Report to generate xml-Files from a database for each product which is descibred in the database tables.

Now our problem is how we could automatically generate aprox 256.000 xml-Files. Therefore we would use the schedule task of ce8.5 with events. What we miss is a feature to change the parameter-value "event-driven" - The event is "Report-is-generated". This event also calls the new/next instance of the report - but we found no way to change the parameter value (5000+1=>5001+1=>5002...) by using ce-event-feature.

I'm reliably informed that this functionality WILL be available in version 10.

I have been forwarded CE10 to beta test, but have encountered problems on install (bodes well!).

I'll let you know what I find.......

Crystal Decisions / Business Objects have recently put together a list of what is new in both Crystal Reports 10 and Crystal Enterprise 10.

Dynamic pick lists are not part of CE 10.

I would have been surprised if they had rolled in dynamic pick lists, Crystal informed me during BETA of 9 that they would not be in CR 10.

In CE you might also use ASP code to pass params.
