Hi,

Has anyone else come across any perfomance issues running reports based on Crystal Reports XI Release 2?

Its more of a general question rather than a quest to get to the bottom of the particular issue, that could very well be an isolated issue based on our environment.

As a bit of background, all our reports are based on SQL Commands, we connect to a SQL Server 2005 database via ODBC. The report runs in 2 to 3 minutes in Crystal XI, 15 to 20 minutes in Crystal XI Release 2 and 1 to 2 minutes in Crystal Reports 2008.

Whilst all versions are installed on the same machine, we started out with Crystal XI, took the side by side option when installing XI release 2 and only installed 2008 for testing purposes to see how performance was based on what we were getting from release 2.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Marc

I used to have Crystal XI Release 2 until I downgraded to Release 1 because of compatibility issues with scheduling reports on our Enterprise Server. Anyways, when I was using Release 2, I did not notice any performance degradation. However, unlike your situation, I did an upgrade rather than a side by side installation. I also do not have any other reporting programs installed.

It may have something to do with the PC you're using or some sort of conflict amongst the software. When comparing the times, are you running the same exact report? Also, does anyone else within your organization experience this problem?

My PC is a Dell Latitude D531 with an AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-56 processor, 2GB RAM, running Windows XP SP3.

Hi All
I am looking for some help in crystal reports server version.
I have set idle parameter for all the servers as 30 mins but coule of reports which take more than 10 mins error out with error message
"Request time out because there was no reply from the server for 600000 millisecond"
Where else do i need to set this paramter in the server.

Sorry to hijack this tread, this is the only recent thread which i could find .. so thought i can expect some response.

Any pointers will be higly appreaciated..

LB,

Why?

I see nothing in the original post that indicates this is a Crystal Enterprise issue.

The problems I was having with release 2 were solved after patching, from memory we had service pack 2 installed and we upgraded to the latest RAS version and corresponding designer version and that resolved the problem.

It wasn't universally effecting all reports, just a few select ones, that appear to have no commonality to distinguish them from the others that worked fine. But then once fixed we didn't invest to much time analysing what may have been the cause truth be known.

dgillz, arvindsetty hijacked the thread, but was also asking a Crystal Server question, which is a mini-version of Crystal Enterprise.
