Hi there,

I have a report that shows multiple lines in the details:
Name Course Score
Young, Sammy English 85
Young, Sammy Social Stud. 56
Zimmer, Sue Math 7 67
Zimmer, Sue English 62

I have formulas to determine which are failing classes (returns a 1 if failing).
What I need the report to show is just failing courses - and I get that to work, but it shows a blank line where the passing courses are. I originally wrote this in vXI where it works beautifully but due to 3rd party software had to rewrite in 8.5. Anyone have any ideas?

You can go into the section expert->check "suppress blank section".

You also could consider just building the criterion into the selection formula, e.g.,

{table.score} < 75

Tried both of those. Tried section expert-> suppress blank section and if @failflag <>1. Still gives me white space for passing students. Frustrating as it works in XI.

Check in design mode to see what section is really displaying. Also consider whether the section might not be totally blank, e.g., could there be some field outside of viewing range, perhaps left over from a former legal size format? What report section is identified in the gray area to the left of the blank space?

But--adding a selection formula like:

{@failflag} <> 1

...should definitely work.

Ok, just label me stupid. It wasn't the detail section that was off - it WAS a leftover field throwing everything off.

THANKS!
Pam
