I have a report that contains 3 views. Each of the views are selected and the relationships established in the Database Expert. When I run the report, I get the following error: database table Serial_View cannot be found, proceed to remove this table from the report? I click 'No' and the report now comes up, pulling the data from the Serial_View view along with the specified data from the other views. I also see this error when doing a Verify Database. The report works fine but the error is annoying and I'm afraid the user is going to select 'Yes' one of these days and remove the view and its data from the report. I have also tried recreating the report and get the same thing. Have tried to create the report with just the one view and also get the same thing. Have created lots of reports and never seen this error. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,
What Database? Is/Are the underlying table(s) of that view fully functional and accessable outside the view?
Can you base a report using the same user/pass on that/those tables?

The database is Oracle 9i. I can't access the table it uses but I can access the view outside of the report. The schema owner of the schema containing the view has select rights to it and I have select rights to the view. It seems like this should be OK, but then again, something must be causing the problem.

Hi,
Are you using the fully-qualified name of the view ( including Schema) ? Check the SQL generated by CR to see what it is actually 'calling'.

What version of Crystal and what connection method are you using?

ODBC? Native Driver? Other?

If ODBC, make sure you have the correct Crystal ODBC dll for your version of Crystal

Hello Turkbear,

I checked the SQL and the view name is fully qualified. I even ran the SQL statement it generated and it works to.

Hello Jdemmi,

I am running Version XI and have an ODBC connection. I have at least 100 reports out there that use the same database and they all run with no issues.

What is so weird about this one is that it says it can't find the table, but it first allows me select it for my report, then when I say no for removing the table, it goes out and pulls the data from it.

I am on another PC, trying the report from there and get the same thing. I talked to our DBA and he is going to give me select rights to the table called by my view. It shouldn't matter, but I'm trying everything.

Also, I unchecked the 'Verify on First Refresh' option as I saw that in another post, but that didn't work either.

I appreciate all the help. Thanks!!!

I've heard of this issue when the Crystal ODBC dll didn't match the version of Crystal installed/in use. That's why I asked about the connection method.

Do all of your reports connect with the same DB user? Do any of them (all of them) use views? Or is this the only one?

As a test, can you change the connection method to "Oracle Server" (native) and see if you receive the same error?

Yes, they all use the same DB user and many of the reports use views.

Hi, are you running your tests ( the SQL and the Accessing the views) from the same machine that is having the problem?

I also agree with jdemmi, use the Oracle Server connection, not ODBC, as it is more compatible and has less overhead ( unless you are using the newest wire-protocol ODBC drivers)
