Hi

I am new to Crystal Reports.

My company currently run version 7 using the runtime ocx to display reports using a third party application on an Oracle database. I am also booked on a course next month for version XI.

Are there any pitfalls, changes in architecture or design strategies that I should to be aware of in moving from V7 to XI. We are not looking to upgrade Crystal V7 at the moment and so any new reports, developed in XI needs to run with the current V7 setup

Thanks in advance

Daz

If you go here and then select the 'Comparisons' PDF, you will get a long list of the differences.

A report written in an older version of Crystal can be upgraded to a newer, but mostly not vice versa, unfortunately. You'll learn about a lot of things that version 7 can't do. You can use cut-and-paste to move formula fields etc. from one version to another.

The main issue is data source. A few data sources are no longer compatible and very few don't work exactly the same.

Why not download the 30-day eval and simply run a couple reports?

Thanks again
