One of my report's Stored procedure takes longer than 5 mins when executed from the back-end. However, when the same is executed from Crystal Management Console, after 3 to 4 minutes, an error saying 'Your request was cancelled because either the reports server was shut down or the server was inactive' is displayed.
What should I do for this?

There is a patch for this. Go to the Crystal Enterprise Forum and do a search, you should be able to find which one to use. If you haven't applied any patches at all, your going to find more problems. You might want to go to Crystal support and DL the current patches. They have started issuing them on a monthly basis.

Hi,

I downloaded the mentioned patch files and ran them( the server patch on the server and the client patch in my machine). It started working. But, then, it seems to be working only in my machine. In others' machines, if I try executing this report, it gives an error saying 'Communication error. No details given' after sometime. What can I do about this?

I have version 8.5 of Crystal Reports Professional and when I run lengthy reports, it times out on me. I know I had a case open with Crystal and there was a way to go into the registry and change the value to a higher number so the BrowseTimeout didn't happen. Can you help?

I am sorry to say that this did not help me because I am using Crystal Reports Professional 8.5 and not Crystal Enterprise 8.5. I know there is somewhere in my registry that a value has to be changed but I have searched my registry in all areas that i know of and I can not find the place to do it. Can you please see if you can help?

I was addressing this bit..

"...when the same is executed from Crystal Management Console, after 3 to 4 minutes, an error saying 'Your request was cancelled because either the reports server was shut down or the server was inactive' is displayed. What should I do for this?..."

NOTE: What I am about to tell you I can not be held responsible for. If your machine blows up, runs away, simply stops working or anything else bizzare that might happen from modifying the registry.

As alway back up the registry before you modify unless you are comfortable not doing it.

------------

For CR itself there is a key located at the following location

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Seagate Software\Crystal Reports\DatabaseServer | BrowseTimeout
