Crystal Reports Server permissions

I've gotten crystal report remote application server working. Meaning I can view reports - static and dynamic - in both firefox and IE. Not sure how to "refresh" a report that had data saved with it, but that's not my primary question.

I've had to make permissions "Everyone" on all folders and reports for them to be able to show up in the listing and be accessed. However, I'd like to make some of those reports accessable only to certain people. For example: end of year reports unviewable or even unseen by the customer service reps.

The only method I can see might be possible would be a second instance of the crystal report server (this is not the full enterprise edition). But before I start and run a risk of breaking what I've got working so far, I was wondering if anyone had (A) another idea or (B) if there were any issues I should keep in mind.

I'm working in a small business server 2003, IIS 6, Windows XP environment with Crystal reports 9 and it's remote (?) application server (RAS).

Thanks

Hi,
How are you viewing the reports?
If you are using InfoView, there will be a Log In icon at the top right ( I think)..
Once logged in, only those reports that are granted to that user will show up ( and all 'everyone' ones as well)..
So just change the permissions to what you want and use the Login page to access them
- after creating additional users, of course .

Not sure what the InfoView is. [edit] quick search says InfoView is java viewer for crystal XI - I'm using crystal 9

I'm using a "RAS Launchpad" that has a link for ePortfolio Lite. The server (crystal RAS) uses ASP. I had a couple issues getting the listing of folders and reports to show up in the browser, as well as an issue getting the reports to generate for those reports that didn't have data saved during design.

Ultimately I've got a parent folder (Web Reports) and children (about 7 subfolders - some with their own children - splitting the reports up by category) with at least Everyone Full Control permissions. I might be able to only give Read and Execute but so far any attempt to limit or remove "Everyone" access has either disabled the particular folder (Accounting) from displaying it's subfolders and reports - so it just shows as a deadend link -, or I get an access denied message when trying to view the report.

All of this occurs in a browser (IE or Firefox).

I'm no guru so I don't know the why's or particulars, but from what I've worked with it seems my limitations center around "Everyone" permissions...as if IIS 6.0 requires the "Everyone" access, or if the whole RAS system requires the "Everyone" access.

I know I can limit access if I was simply accessing the folders through the directory (I've successfully denied the administrative account access and removed all ownership details from the reports a handful of times heh). But those different levels of restrictions and accesses don't appear to translate through to the browser.
