Hi..

My reports in Crystal Server are not displaying. Receiving the error:

Unable to retrieve Object.
External component has thrown an exception

Anyone seen this error and know a resolution. Historical reports can be accessed. Cannot schedule any reports without receiving this error.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
BV

Is your INPUT File Repository Server (FRS) on a local drive or a network drive..?

Sounds like your INPUT FRS is unavailable.

The INPUT FRS contains your Report Objects.

The OUTPUT FRS contains your Report Instances (History).

MJRBIM...

Well, my reports reside on the Win 2K3 server. I've tried to run the reports from the server and from a workstation. No luck.

I have CRXI and CR2008. Reports were saved to the server using CRXI.

not sure what else to look at.

Can you access the CMC for your Crystal Server...?

Is the INPUT Server running/enabled/active..?

Is the patch for the INPUT Server valid...?

I can access the CMC. The input server is running.

"Patch for input server valid"? Not sure what you mean.

Duh... I figured out the problem. Wasn't changing the reoprt format to Adobe. The report was set to Crystal Report.

All set.

Thanks,

Hello,
I have the same problem. The input server is running. Don't know where to look. Any suggestions? Any or all suggestions are appreciated.

Cristian,

Did you check the report "format" option. I was scheduling the reports but the default was set to Rystal Report. Changing the format to Adobe or Excel fixed the problem.
