IS-IT--Management
We are migrating from Crystal Reports Enterprise 9 Professional and was told that we should be using Crystal Reports Server 2008 and I have a few questions...
1. How long has Crystal Reports Server 2008 be out and would it be wiser to use the version just prior to that? What would that version be and can it still be purchased.
2. When I went to install Crystal Reports Server 2008, I was only give the option for Tomcat web services. We are currently using IIS for ePortfolio. Will IIS support come later or will it only be Tomcat from this point forward? If IIS is coming later, would it be better to use the version just prior to CRS2008 and wait for IIS support in CRS2008?
3. I'm installing CRS2008 on new hardware (Dell 2950, W2K3 R2 SP2, SQL 2005 SP2, IIS6) and I'm a bit confused about the steps necessary to move my existing CR9 environment to the new CRS2008 environment. I went through the CRS2008 install and pretty much accepted the defaults. From here what do it do? For example...
a) If I installed Tomcat as part of the CRS2008 install, do I need to do anything else to initialize the web services?
b) Do I need java installed on the CRS2008 server? What about the CR2008 workstation?
c) Do I use the Migrate Data Source Wizard or Import wizard or both to move my existing environment?
d) Do I migrate the IIS website to Tomcat? If so, how do I do that?
4. Are there step by step instructions for what I'm trying to do? I'm an experienced Systems Engineer, but I haven't worked with Crystal before and it seems to be rather monolithic.
Thanks so much for your help and guidance,
Chris
