Crystal Reports - Create SQL externally ?

My company is considering moving from Actuate to Crystal Reports. I currently "nail down" my SQL directly in Oracle and I can easily reuse it in Actuate ( basically copy and paste the SQL into Actuate ).

In current Crystal Reports, can I do something simular or need I (re)create the query within the IDE ?

Yes, you can do so in Crystal.

Better yet create Views, that way if you decide to change again later the data source is still available to any tool.
