We have a number of people running Crystal Reports through Citrix (NT TSE) and whilst most users seem to be able to run reports, one user can successfully get into Crystal but as soon as he tries to open any report it crashes the server.
We've tried deleting & re-creating the user's profile on the server, re-installing Crystal on the server, running Diagnostics against the server etc. but are running out of ideas - any thoughts?

Elaborate on "Crash". Does it lock, bluescreen, etc. If bluescreen or error, what's the message. The first few lines of a bluescreen are always helpful. What version of Crystal Reports also. I've successfully done this numerous times and had a few problems myself.

We're running Crystal 8.0.1.0
Basically what happens is that the user goes to open a report, it waits for a few seconds then throws the user off Crystal, and also any other users who are running other applications through the Citrix server get thrown off as the server crashes; it then needs rebooting.
We've been able to have some limited success at times in that the user has been able to log on to other PCs and open and run maybe 2 or 3 reports successfully, but it always crashes sooner or later; other times it will crash straight away no matter which PC the user is on.

Unfortunately I don't work with the server (it's actually based in another of our offices) so can't elaborate more at the moment, but I'll check with the people who do and try to get more information in the next day or so if it'll help.

Well, the situation has now changed; another user is now having the exact same problem every time they try to open reports. I did ask about the bluescreen message, but having spoken to our I.T people it seems that we're probably going to remove Crystal from the Citrix server anyway and either run it from local installs or find an alternative.

Thanks for trying anyway; we're still going to be running Goldmine 5 through the server so no doubt I'll be back here in the future!

First of all can you run Crystal successfully logged on as Administrator? If not, the issue is with Crystal. If you can, the issue is with TS/Citrix file permissions. If so, then try this? Launch regedt32, find the Crystal key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software, highlite the key, click Security from the Menu, and change permissions on Everyone to Full Control. This allows the keys to be created in HKEY_CURRENT_USER to run CrystalReports. Also, enable auditing on the Server. Audit the root drive and select Replace Auditing on Subdirectories and select all options for both success and failue. You will find that all files under the root drive are read only for Everyone by default. You will see in the Event log which files are getting Failure audits. You must monitor this closely and change permissions as required for these applications to work properly. Some of these .dll's and.ini files are copied into users profile\windows directory. I have changed permissions on these files to full control for Everyone. This has solved many problems on my Citrix/TS Server.

Ok, I'll pass this on to the guys who work directly with the server, but I think the decision to remove Crystal from the server has been taken (not purely because of this problem though.)

Thanks for your help, I'll post again if anything changes.
