I created reports using Crystal Reports 8. I used Ado to link SQL sever 7 tables to my reports. I am previewing the reports from Visual Basic using the Crystal Report Engine with Global32.bas ect. My reports open fine on the PC I use for developement and on PC's with Windows 98. If I try to run the reports from a Windows NT machine the reports open but close itself immediately. Can anybody help me with this as it is driving me nuts!

It's been months since I fought with a similar problem, but I seem to remember there are two possibilities. Either NT doesn't like leaving active connections open in the background when you don't have a login connection to the server that it handled; or the NT machines are lacking one of the Crystal Reports DLLs that allow the report viewer to function. A simple test would be to install Crystal Reports to either an NT machine, or the server you're running the query from if the application is server-based, and see if the problem goes away.

Hi

I am using Crysal Reports Professional Version 8 with Crystal Enterprise. I am trying to Create the following object on the web server in an ASP but it won't create it and crashes. Bth installations went fine.

Server.CreateObject("Crystal.CRPE.Application")

Anyone any ideas why.

Hi,

Thanks for helping me with question. I installed Crystal Reports on the NT machine and the reports opened without a problem. I gathered from this that I am not shipping the all the relevant dll's with my package. I wrote some error handling code to verify this and get the following error:
Error 532: Can not find database dll. I made certain that I shipped the database dll with the package but I still get this error. Any ideas?

There are several possible DLLs that might be used. Best bet is to check the Runtime Files Requirements online help (there's a file that will probably be C:\Program Files\Seagate Software\Crystal Reports\Developer Files\Help\Runtime.hlp, or something similar), that has a list of what files are used for each connection method.

I hope that pans out.
