Crystal Reports 10 and Pervasive Stored Procedures

Hello,

I am wondering if it is possible to use stored procedures created in pervasive 8.6 to be used as a data source in Crystal 10 standard edition.
I did mark the Stored Procedures option in Crystal, but I cannot see any stored procedure when I connect to the ddf file.
Any help would be appreciated.

A few questions:
- Do you have Stored Procedures(SPs) in the Pervasive database?
- Why do you want to use an SP? There's typically no performance improvement in using SPs.

Also, are you using the ODBC driver in Crystal Reports or are you using the Btrieve option? If it's the Btrieve option, you may not be able to use SPs since SPs are a SQL construct and aren't available through the Btrieve interface.

Thank you for your quick reply Mirtheil. My ultimate goal is to use a stored procedure in a shipping label report that will allow the user to skip a specified number of labels before printing the records. I read somewhere that I could use a union query in a stored procedure (although the example used an SQL server). I was trying to use the btrieve option in Crystal.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The fact that you are using the Btrieve option may limit you. I don't have Crystal 10 so I can't try it but you might try using ODBC (and creating an ODBC DSN pointing to the data) and check for the SPs.
You'll need to make sure you have an SP defined in the PSQL database. PSQL doesn't use (or give an advantage to SPs).

ODBC is definately required to see the SP in crystal.

Thanks Mirtheil. Unfortunately I need the professional version of Crystal to use ODBC. I do have the SP defined in the PSQL and I can run in in the PCC. Any other suggestions?

What edition of crystal are you using? Standard?

I have written a label report that skips a specified # of labels (from a parameter prompt) and I did not need an SP to accomplish this. Maybe you can explain what you are trying to do.

I am using the Standard edition of Crystal. I was hoping to create the report based on the SP because I thought it might be easier than creating all the extra detail section with conditional suppressions and the parameter prompt (that is what I did previously). Did your report use a different method for skipping labels?
