Hi everyone,

I am using Crystal Reports Server. I wonder if i can extend report runtime in Central Management Console (CMC). Normally, report will run if it is under 15 minutes. For reports over 15 minutes when compliling it will be timeout in Inforview. For example, there is one report with the parameters and run on demand by users, it will takes 17 minutes to run. This report will be timeout and cannot view in Infoview. Is there a way to change the setting in CMC to make it run longer than 15 mintues or to adjust the time?

Thanks,
AN

Hi,
Check to see what the timing is for cancelling an inactive connection.

( By the way, 17 minutes seems very long for a report to run..how many records are involved?)

Hi Turkbear,

Thanks for replying. However, how to check for the timing for cancelling an inactive connection?

I found a work around for this report which takes only 2 to 3 minutes by using Crosstab, but if I want to get the same layout that user wants then my query will be involved with unions, which I optimized my unions by using WITH statement from Oracle. It takes 3 minutes for my query but when I put into Crystal it takes longer than 10 minutes. Normally, I do an exact for my complex reports. I am just curious on how to change timing for cancelling an inactive connection. I try to avoid creating more tables and stored procedures. If my reports without parameters and it takes more than 10 minutes then I will just schedule them to run over night, but with parameters then I just want to know how change the connection time.

Thanks,
AN

Hi,
In the CMC, look at the properties tab for the page and job servers( maybe others, I'm not at a BOE installation currently) and see what the timeouts are set for.

As to the query taking longer in CR than in Oracle directly, usually that means some filtering is happening at the report level and not getting passed to the database..Look at the 'show sql' and be sure all ( or most) of the 'WHERE' clauses are being passed to Oracle..
