I am trying to build a report within crystal that is actually a label for packaging. I need the customer name, customer #, Customer PO #, Item #, Item quanity. This would be printed when the packing list is printed and one label would be printed per line item.
Additional it would be nice to be able to control the label based on the quanity of the line item. For example if a line item would not fit in a single package multiple labels would be printed. Anyone have any eperience with this application?

Which label printer are you using - Zebra, Symbol, etc? Label printers normally comes with a software to create the label. What I did in Zebra was to create the label format in their software the exported it to crystal. We went further this year and added bar code and still was working fine.

It a Zebra printer. I have there free software Barone lite software. Which would create the format. I don't know if this limited version would allow an export. How about a solution for printing these labels along with the packing list. I have Forms Printer by Accountable which I believe will create the added option of printing the crystal label.
Barcode would be nice as well

I found how to do that a few months back after searching for eons.

first,
create yourself a table with 1 field called LABELQTY
populate this table with the numbers 1 throuth 1000 (use excel its easier than typing them in manually)

on your report, add the table called HOWMANY, but do not link it to anything

in your restrictions put the following line in manually

{SOP10200.QUANTITY} >={HOWMANY1.HOWMANY})

this statement will give you "HOWMANY" labels based on the item quantity of the line item #

hope that helps

and they wonder why they call it Great Pains!

That's the same software that came with our Zebra printers. We're using Z4Mplus and Z6Mplus in all our warehouses, we're also using Forms Printer. It took me awhile to understand the ZPL Programming but was able to create the label. You have to give me some more info for me to help you:

1) What's the size of the label?
2) How many label parts are there? Example in our case, the label is divided into 3 parts. One part goes to the box which has the ship-to address, etc; another part goes to the item in the box which only shows the Serial Number, item number and qty, last part part goes to the shipping report and also shows S/N, item nbr and qty.

Same printer as you z4m Plus.
3"x3" label size. This will be a label to placed on a bag or box. It will have the customer's Name, Customer's PO, Item #, Customers's Item #, Quanity of items. One label per line item of packing slip, but need to have the option of having additional labels per line items if say the items would all not all fit in one container. Then maybe a label per quanity of the item. These would be placed on plastic bags as the items are picked off of the packing list. Hopefully these labels could be printed along with the packing list in the wharehouse.

Sure appreciate the help.

I didn't get it. I'll check Junkmail and Spam Emails because sometimes the server filters it there then I'll send you the format.
