Hi Guys

Is their a way that I can get Crystal Reports to automatically refresh every 5 mins with the same parameters.

I want to set up a report that displays on a big screen that shows all user sales for the particular day. All users will be able to see the screen and the report refreshes every 5 mins.

Is this possible?

I did the exact same thing for a client a few months ago to display the "Trouble Tickets" on a big flat screen in their IT Support Center.

We looked at a bunch of different methods and ended-up connecting the screen to a PC running HammerLaunch Pro which updates the RPT every five (5) minutes.

The only "downside" is you see the HammerLaunch splash screen for a second or two every five minutes.

We can live with that....for the price.

Thanks for the reply.

I have downloaded a trial version of hammerlaunch and can view the crystal reports. However i am not sure how I can get the report to automatically refresh every 5 mins.

Thanks

Schedule a command line in Windows scheduler to view the desired report in Hammerlaunch, have it run every 5 minutes. Here is a link to the command line syntax:

You'll probably need another event just prior to this to kill any session of hammerlaunch that is open, but I do not know for sure.

"What version of URGENT!!! are you using?

Thanks for that.

Hopefully this is the last question. I can now get the report to run and have a scheduled task a minute before to kill the process.

My next question is, when the report runs, the screen is not maximised, how can I get the screen to maximise automatically.

Thanks

Hi MJRBIM

When your report runs automatically, does the screen maximise? I have created a .bat file and put the parameter of START /MAX however what happens is that HammerLaunch3 opens maximised but when it opens the report it goes back to normal size.

Thanks

Disclaimer: I'm the developer of DataLink Viewer and there are other Crystal report viewers out there (see list at
DataLink Viewer has a built-in Auto-Refresh option that can be invoked from within the interactive refresh dialog as well as from a command line. When started from a command line, the report remembers it's Window state.

One more note: if the plan is to use the large screen to alternate between several auto-refreshed reports, be sure to read the following section in the user manual: "Cycling Through Several Auto-Refreshed Reports". You may be able to use the same technique with other viewers.
