Crystal Management Console: Page Not Found

Hi,

We've recently installed Crystal Enterprise 8 on Windows Server 2003 (II6, SQL 2000 SP4). When we attempt to open the Crystal Management Console from the Launchpad, we're receiving a "Page Cannot Be found" error. So far we've:

- Added the Web Service Extensions to the Default Website (.cri, .csp, .cwr, .rpt, .shtx ---> "C:\Program Files\Seagate Software\WCS\wcsinsapi.dll")
- Confirmed the /Crystal and /Viewers virtual directories
- Added the Read, Execute Scripts, Script Source permissions to the Enterprise subdirectory)
- Confirmed that all servers are running and "enabled" in the Configuration Manager
- the Web Component Server hostname is the machine name on port 6401

Am I missing something?

CE 8 is now over 5 years old and is completely unsupported on the operating system and web server you have chosen.

I'm not surprised your having trouble getting it running!

Why don't you get hold of Crystal Reports Server XI (free with Crystal Reports Professional XI) and move on to supported software.

Good Point. This install was performed for a client who requested to install the version that they purchased several years ago.

Before requesting that they purchase a new version, we wanted to determine if anyone has successfully installed CE8 on a newer server.

Technically, Crystal 8 isn't supported on Windows 2003.
But we tried doing it as well.

You have to reconfig IIS 6 to handle the .RPT extension.

1.- Open IIS.
2.- Right click on "Web Sites" and choose properties (that will give you the default properties page for all the web sites).
3.- Go to the Home Directory tab, then click "Configuration".
4.- Click "Add" to add a new application extension.
5.- The executable file by default should be: C:\Program Files\Seagate Software\WCS\wcsinsapi.dll
6.- The extension is: rpt
7.- I set verbs to: Limit to: GET, HEAD POST

8.- Click "Add" to add a new application extension.
9.- The executable file by default should be: C:\Program Files\Seagate Software\WCS\wcsinsapi.dll
10.- The extension is: cri

11.- Go to the Home Directory tab, then “Execute Permissions:”= Scripts only



12.- Open “Application Pools” Right Click on “MSSharePointAppPool” Identity Predifined=Network Service



13.- If you check the dependencies of the Page Server service, you will see that it depens on 2 other services which are "disabled" by default on a Win2003 server. Just enable and start them and then you should be able to start the page server service



14.-Web Service Extensions: Add a new web service Extension… add… “C:\Program Files\Seagate Software\WCS\wcsinsapi.dll”… set status extention as allowed



15.- SERVER (local computer) right click “properties” “MIME types” “New…”

“Extension:” .cri

“MIME type:” application/octet-stream

“New…”

“Extension:” .rpt

“MIME type:” application/octet-stream

I´m trying to solve the following problem that i've found in Crystal Enterprise documentation "IIS 6 is NOT supported as a web server for Crystal Enterprise 9".

One client needs to change to 2003 Server but also needs to continue using CE 9.

Do you know if this tip works for CE 9?

As with the earlier part of the thread CE-9 is no longer supported by the vendor, so you should suggest they move to a supported version (ie. Business Objects XI).
