Hi,

I'm using Crystal Reports V9 and would like to use the mapping technology within it. I have a couple of questions before I start:-

1. Are the maps upgradeable? So if one country becomes part of another or boundaries are moved. Can new ones be purchased?

2. Can the UK map be filtered against postcode and/or county. If so, are postcode databases available for purchase/upgrade.

Thanks for any information you can provide!

Regards,

Marcus.

The mapping is actually a third party technology that CR uses in the designer. I also do not believe these have ever been updated and so far as I know, as such, are not upgradeable.

There is also no PCode database or anything that I know of to filter the map on. The maps are typically designed for the major countries with some of the main hiways and cities. The filtering and drillin on the maps is based on the data avaioable to the report. Getting as granular as PCode might be tough one.

Marcus, can you let me know if you had any joy with your postcode work? I am looking at a smilar problem now.

Thanks

Jon

I gave up in the end! It looks like it simply can't be done in Crystal.

I could be wrong but i vaguely recall the mapping software was based on MapInfo. Alternative levels (eg Postcodes may be available from them.)
Have not tried this, so cannot be sure.

Check out MapInfo and the local distributor for your region or country.

Here in New Zealand they have a full set of NZ maps available for sale, so I imagine other countries would have something similar.

MapInfo is available as a seperate product so you could always buy that and create your own maps.
