Crystal Enterprise ---sending external emails

I have latest version of Crystal Enterprise and have scheduled several reports to run daily and email the output to a number of people. With some of the reports, the recipients are external to my company. The problem is that they are not receiving the emails with attached reports. The interanl recipients are receiving them.

Are there any settings in Enterprise that have to be set in order to send external emails? Any other ideas as what might be causing this problem??

Does your company have any policies in place that block the sending of attachments in external mail?

In general, if you have a SMTP mail host, it is what handles the mailing after it gets the item from the CE server, so I suspect it is in the SMTP setup for your company's mail host that is causing the problem...(the key word here, however, is suspect - check with your network folks)

Thanks for the quick response. As far as I know there are no restrictions on sending emails with attachments to external email addresses ---I just tested it and was able to manually (directly from Outlook, our email client) send an email with attachment to external addresses.

I will have to check further as to the possibility of the SMTP server causing the problem. If you have any other ideas/suggestions ---I'm all ears.

No problem..I use Email to do the same thing, but all my addresses are in our domain so it may be different for external sites.

BTW, if you are all ears, how can you type? [bigcheeks]

I have a similar problem, I have scheduled several reports to send to people within my own company, the reports run fine, but emails are not sent. Does the account logged into the APS, etc have to have rights to send mail?

Has anyone found any tricks for setting up emailing of reports?

This is CE and email server version dependent.

You need to set up the SMTP settings in CE 8.5.

Consider starting a new thread and describing your environment. Also post any errors associated.

I have had this problem and have found spam filters catch the email and delete it. The problem could be what you set up as the from Address in you SMTP setting in CE. Try using a valid email address in the from field.
