I am using crystal enterprise to view a crystal 8.5 report via the web. I have 4 groups within the report with drill down capabilities through each grouping.

Issue 1 - In the dhtml viewer, the search, print, change grouping features are disabled.

Issue 2 - When exporting report to pdf, excel, etc. the report only contains data for the first grouping. What we need is all of the detailed data for the entire results set(all groups) to show up in the report.

Hi,

Re issue 1,"The search, print, change grouping features are disabled." Check the web server to see if these options are available to users. Search & Print may be built in Enterprise options, but, "Change Group", I'm a little confused??? This is not a standard Enterprise option,as far as I know. Are there parameters in the report you're accesssing? Change Group is not a viewer option. Try the activex viewer (better than DHTML as far as I'm concerned)... do you get the same results?

Re issue 2, as soon as you drilldown one level you loose the ability to export, limitation of the software.

If your user needs to export, keep the report as "Flat" as possible.

That is bad news to hear that you lose export capability if groups are used in the report. I would have thought CD would have provided this functionality. Will be a big gripe with the project I am working with I am sure.

About issue #1 I have seen this functionality described on the CD web site. I have just been told that it is yet another separately licensed product called Smart Reporting.

Does anyone have experience with this product, cost, additional useful features?

Hi

Just to clarify, you don't loose export functionality by using groups. You loose it when you drilldown.

The Smart Reporting technology (RAS) allows you to export the drill down sections of a report

Smart Reporting.....

Oh... Really.., Another CD money grab ??? What a suprise !!!

If your user's end requirement is to be able to export the report to another format, then, design the report to accomodate his/her needs. Some of my users don't care what it looks like in Crystal. Can we get it into Excel ??

Not pretty, but, here it is....

Nuffsaid.
