We're running Windows server 2003 locally. We've also got an older version of Crystal Enterprise running on a separate machine in our production environment.

Because of budgetary concerns, we're wanting to avoid buying a new server to install, test, and port reports over to the new system.

Is it safe to install the latest Crystal Enterprise XI on a domain controller and to leave it there in production, or are we courting danger?

Thanks!

Defnitely not.

Whilst BOE XI is a fairly robust application, it can cause situations that require a reboot at inopportune times which should be avoided at all costs.

I've a few clients who are running VmWare on their servers and happily share it with CE or BOXI along side other applications.

BusinessObjects supports the use of VmWare installs for all their products since 2004, but not Microsoft Virtual PC. Took me a long time to get this 'Offically' from them.
