Hi,

We have posted our Crystal reports via Crystal Enterprise and currently using it in production.

Our main fear now is if ever we encounter any hardware failure (such as hard disk failure) in the future. We would want to restore the Crystal Enterpise as quickly as possible, with minimal downtime.

Is there a function in Crystal Enterpise for backup/restore (in a file for example)?

What files do we need to backup just in case we encounter a hardware failure? We would like to restore same settings (user, groups as well as the reports uploaded/instances).

Also if ever where can we find the procedures/steps for this backup/restore process (website)?

Appreciate any help regarding this matter. Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
we backup the SQL databases that CE uses (which we have on a dedicated server for several SQL databases) and also any changed files/folders on the Enterprise server eg under the FileStore directory.

Hi,
We backup our APS database ( it is in Oracle so we use Export) each night - we are not 24/7 so we can feel comfortable that no data loss will happen due to changes while the export is running.

We also have our FRS directories on a network file server separate from the CE servers and these are backed up on a regular basis ( full weekly, incremental nightly).

We also back up the actual directories used by the web pages ( all, including the csp ones) daily.

This, we hope, will let us get back up quickly in case of failure of any or all of the components making up our CE system.

Thanks guys for all this info. Currently we are only backing up the database our Crystal reports are using (SQL Server).

Regards,
Topy
