Hello,
We are using a crystal enterprise standart edition and we have several types of reports that we manage.
Because we have a standart edition CE we cannot use its user, group authentication features and we need to limit the access of some of these reports.
Can you recommend another way to do this.

in order to use security with CE, you will need to upgrade to CE Pro. this gives you access to the integrated security as well as the ability to integrate NT or LDAP authentication systems.

Anyone have any idea what it costs to upgrade to a 1 CPU license for Professional?

Thanks,

Andrew

You could develope the reports and provide
access to only the users you want by providing
them with the url access.
You could also use something like FrontPage
and provide only the reports each user needs.

Regarding the cost to upgrade, just call Crystal. Their sales line is quick. I will bet the cost is steep, as that seems to be the direction that company is moving (moderately deceptive licensing schemes, astronomic fees).

Regarding security SANS upgrade, could you code some ASP to force a login (or do you have too many users, etc??).

I'd roll my own security - create a login page, generate my own internal user UID and maintain a list of reports which are accessible to that user. Then customize the ASP pages that CE generated to use your own security hook on which reports to display.

It's a lot of duplicate work, but I don't see any other option outside of upgrading to CE pro.
