I'm a PM, so please be kind if this is a simple question. Is it possible to use a text file as data source for Crystal Enterprise 10 jobs. Thanks for any help.

That depends on the format of the text file.

But yes, text files such as character seperated files can be read as data.

Perhaps you should have a technical person post specifics.

We have a comma separated text file which will be the data source. Our tech folks need to know how to set up a connection to a text file. We currently use CE10 to connect to DB2 and SQL databases.

Use Control Panel->Admionistrative Tools->ODBC->System DSN->Microsoft Text Driver

Turn off the use Current Directory and use Select Directory.

We have an ODBC connection setup and we can run it from Crystal; however, we're getting an error when trying to run from the scheduler.

Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters. File E:\CE10\Enterprise 10\Data\procSched\servername.reportjobserver\~tmp13404ca7e475910.rpt.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Is the ODBC set-up as a SYSTEM DSN not a USER DSN...?

Does the account that the Report Job Server is running under have access to the location where the CSV file...?

Yes and Yes. I'm using the CE10 domain admin account and logged into the server as that account. I can run the report and view the share with the account.

But when I run it in the scheduler I get that error.

The account I am referring to is not the account you are using to login, it's the account that the BOE-XI services run under at start-up.

You need to go into each service via the Central Configuration Manager (CCM) on the server - not the web based Central Management Console (CMC).

Look at the properties of your services as see what the "Log In As..." settings are.

They are probably local-Admin, which may not have access to your CSV if it is out on the network.
