I have encountered a problem with a CR installation on my laptop. I am running W2K Server to be able to use MS SQL Server. In the past week CR 8.5 has periodically just "blown away" in the middle of an innocuous report operation. Now, however, if I try start the program it doesn't even get past the main screen for around 20 seconds, then is gone, with no error.
If I start Crystal by double-clicking any report in explorer, the Error message states it is unable to find the report!
I have uninstalled CR, reinstalled it, uninstalled and reinstalled after removing most of the (100s of) Registry entries thus prompting for a fresh install, all to no avail.
I think the problem has damaged the OS somehow, though everything else seems to be running, but don't even know where to try looking, without the benefit of some kind of error. If anyone has had a similar experience I'd appreciate any pointers.

Regards
Andrew

I solved it myself but just in case anyone else has a similar problem...
The problem was with Wingate Client, which I use to access the Internet when in the office. CR was apparently trying to access the Net, I think to attempt Registration, but as I was out of the office it couldn't find a Wingate server.
Why it should blow away completely I don't know, but disabling Wingate instantly solved the problem. :)
