Hello - I am attempting to install Crystal 6 locally off of a CD. When we get to the spot for choosing where to install we get the error 'Directory entry is not a valid directory name' . It doesnt' matter what directory we pick. Crystal has an article in their knowledge base on this, but it talks about either installing from or to a network, which we are not doing. They mention sharing so I did make sure the directories were shared, but that still did not work.

We are running XP Pro.

We have been able to install other programs off CD (Oracle) so I do not think it could be a permissions thing.

Has anyone run into this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

Hi,
Crystal 6?

I expect that it is not supported on XP ( A Unicode difference may be involved, or it may not recognize the File system)

Hi - I should have mentioned that a co-worker installed it on his machine - also XP - and it worked fine. We both have newly installed laptops from our company so I would expect the configurations are the same, but perhaps I should call deskside support.

Hi,
Be sure that you install to a path that has no spaces...

Also, you should be an administrator on the PC when installing..
