I am having an issue with many of my reports that is causing my report to refresh upon any change made on the preview tab. I am unable to make any change without a prompt coming up asking me if I want to refresh or use saved data. Is there an option that I have checked that is causing this?

You could make your changes on the design tab instead of on the preview tab.

Every time you add or delete a field on the report, it will refresh the query because Crystal will only select the fields that are on the report.

A computer only does what you actually told it to do - not what you thought you told it to do.

Sounds like you have checked - Save data with report

Go to File and uncheck that option and save normally.

Thanks for the responses. I unchecked that option and it is still doing the same thing. Maybe refresh isnt the word. It actually recalculates every time. This report has a lot of data so the recalculate takes a couple minutes every time I move anything.

That's why you should be working in design mode. It also might have to do with functions that you are using. If you are using time based functions like currentdatetime, the report will have to recalculate continually if in preview mode.

Your first post specifically said that you get a prompt for refreshing or using saved data. That means Crystal has noticed a change in your criteria. If that is true then post your entire record selection formula and we can see what is causing this.

But recalculating is a different animal altogether. Crystal might just be repainting all the pages. This will happen if you are using "Page N of M" or if you have "TotalPageCount" somewhere in a formula. If that is the problem them delete that field or function (temporarily) until you have made all of the changes.
