I am running a program and having trouble accessing a specific feature. This program is a hospital program that has a fax function. When I try to access this function it comes up with a
"Cryptography service error
Error #6 Overflow"
I've tried re-registering the dlls associated to the cryptography service. As well as unregistered them, restart and re-register them. I have also uninstalled all Java and reinstalled Java on the machine. I am still getting the same error.
I thought it may be the users profile, but the user can log into another computer and run the function just fine. Any ideas?

Hmm since you havent had any bites yet, Ill throw my hat into the ring.

Try a CCleaner registry cleaning and app cleaning, remove all the goodies. Can you try to reinstall the program and see if it has a "repair" option? What versions of Adobe do you have installed?

Maybe we should start with this: Which cryptography service does this involve? Is there any sign associated with this program (which program?) which points towards that?

It is not possible for anyone to acknowledge truth when their salary depends on them not doing it.

Sorry for delayed reply. I have been working with multiple projects including this one.
When I try to install the program on a completely different box I get the same error. I even went as far as to take an image made by our corporate office and try that. No go. Same error.
I do not know what cryptology service is involved. The error above is the only information the program is spiting out. The program is called HPF Workstation. I do not see any sign in the program that points toward what service. It is the decrypt function... I think.

have you tried to clear the CATROOT2 folder, as outlined below?
Method 2: Rename the Catroot2 folder
Rename the Catroot2 folder (Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 only), and then try to install the program again.

Note Skip this method if the operating system is Windows 2000.

To rename the Catroot2 folder, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
2. At the command prompt, type the following commands, and then press ENTER after each line:
net stop cryptsvc
ren %systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 oldcatroot2
net start cryptsvc
exit
3. Remove all tmp*.cat files from the following folder:
%systemroot%\system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}

If no files that start with tmp exist in this folder, do not remove any other files. The .cat files in this folder are necessary for installing hotfixes and service packs.

Important Do not rename the Catroot folder. The Catroot2 folder is automatically recreated by Windows, but the Catroot folder is not recreated if the Catroot folder is renamed.

I'm going to give this a try. I want to say I've done this on two machines, but I can not be sure. I will try it and report back.

So, ended up being a bad registry setting for the program.

cecilXavier,

What registry setting was bad. I am having a similar problem with EPRS.exe. Thanks for any info

A lot of db server name corrections. I cannot post the reg file I used since it has internal server information.
We were using an old reg file to install. Once the new reg file was used it worked like a charm. It was all in the registry
