Bonjour
Hope someone having a global view of Crytal reports features can help me to design a mass reporting system.
I need to set a tool to build report based on individual XML files. Something as one XML file written in a directory will generate one PDF report.
Using CRXI and ADO(XML) driver I have design my report.
How can I triggered process each time a new XML file is written in directory?
Do I have to program tool to scan directory and call Crystal function or does that kind of tool exist?
I need to produce 15000 instances of a complex report of 15 pages (using 20 sub-reports) in less of 2 hours. Does anybody have that can of experience?
Many thanks

It sounds like you need to burst a large report, and there are tools that can do that for you. If you provide more detail about what (and why) your are trying to achieve, instead of the particulars of how you decided to attack the problem, it may be possible to suggest a better approach.

Thanks Ido to take care of my post.
I have got following specifications.
Print one kind of report of 15 pages including graphics and colors using always same layout.
During day I have to produce on user request 300 instances directly to printer.
During end of month night batch I have to print 15000 instances in 2 hours.
Database is on unix server with "Pick" database, but for a security issue we cannot give access to database from an external tool. So the only interface is flat files.
So, let me known if you have a solution.

Regards - Pierre

Is the .rpt (the report design) available ahead of time?
If so, the problem is easy to solve. If not, please explain why not.

Yes, the design file ".rpt" is available ahead of time.

Bonjour Ido,

Could you explain "problem is easy to solve"? I would like some suggestions.
Best Regards - Pierre

You can print on demand or use any report scheduling tool to print any number of copies you wish. For a list of 3rd-party report managers, see:
If you'd like to split the printing load across multiple printers (to speed up the process), at least one Report Manager (in the list linked above) allows you to print to multiple printers in a single pass. Also, is all you need is scheduled printing, at least one 3rd-party viewer (in the list linked above) allows you to schedule printing and specify number of copies via a command line.
