Hi

We have an application that integrates the Crystal View and report design components, however am getting problems when trying to use this with licence key codes. I think I need the RCAPI licence key code. How do i get this ?

Is it not on the back of your CD case?

Is it the same as the licence code that you put in when you install Crystal XI then

I don't know. I was asking if you had tried this.

What edition of Crystal XI are you using? If you are not using the developer or advanced edition then you will not have the RDC anyway.

Hi

Yes ive tried the licence key that came with my Developer copy of Crystal XI.

Most applications don't need the RCAPI (Report Creation API). The RCAPI includes additional commands that you can use to add new objects to reports that weren't there at design time as opposed to changing properties. Using these calls means you are essentially allowing users to modify reports without Crystal, so deploying this app will cost extra money per user. You have to buy these keys from BO.

Hi

thanks for this. Does this apply if all the users have a developer version of Crystal XI

Basically im trying to intergrate the crystal run time viewer and the crystal run time design element. I think this is the functionality provided by the following dll
craxdrt.dll and craxddrt.dll
Any help would be great

craxddrt.dll is the RCAPI calls. There are two links on the following page:

(near the bottom) that link to BO's licensing policy summary and PDF. If the RCAPI isn't mentioned in those you will probably have to call and ask them.
