Is there any way to restore a partition to the thumb drive? I was installing a fresh copy of xp pro and accidentally hit the thumb drive partition, deleted it, and now windows does not recognize what size it is, so is unable to format it.
did a google search but no luck yet.

Partition Magic 8 might be able to do it, If setup can PM8 should.

You also might try the Computer Management Applet in Administrative Tools.

yep, disk management worked. I wonder why windows was being stupid and couldnt determine the size, yet when I went into disk management it popped up as disk1 486MB..

If you look at hdd's its the same way. I have a 120GB SATA Drive and its showing up at like 114GB. Its the FAT32 system. I wonder if you could format it to the NTFS... ???

nvm, my SATA is NTFS... But I don't think there is anyway to stop the loss of space.
