CRTCClient not responding!

I just did a new install of Windows 98SE, and every time (and I mean every time), I shut down the machine, I get a message the "CRTCClient is not responding!" with the usual "Wait, End Now, Cancel" options.

I cannot find anything about this CRTCClient anywhere on the net. Has anyone ever heard of this, or know what it is?

Sometimes I also get "DDE Server Windows not responding" message as well.

Thanks for your help.

Check your startup tab in the System Config Utility. (type msconfig in the "Run..." box) There may be a reference to this thing in there. It will also show you the directory it's loaded out of, which may give you a better idea of what it is...

Hi,

Thanks for the advice. I traced it to MSN Messenger 4.6. After I got rid of that, everything is fine. The actual file is C:\Program Files\Messenger\MSMSGS.EXE.

Thanks again.
