I have a table similar to the following:
NAME APPLICATION
JOE WINDOWS
JOE OFFICE XP
JOE WINZIP
MARY WINDOWS
MARY ADOBE
MARY CRYSTAL
BOB WINDOWS
BOB NETSCAPE
BOB WINZIP
BOB ADOBE

Trying to create a report that will look thus:

WINDOWS
-------
JOE
MARY
BOBY
Total: 3

OFFICE XP:
----------
JOE
Total: 1

WINZIP:
-------
JOE
BOB
Total: 2

I'm already pulling my hair on this and getting nowhere.

Help!

what have you got done that isn't working?

in the report design, go to Sorting and Grouping.
choose field Application, and give it a HEADER.
in the header section, put the field Application.
in the detail section of the report, put Name.

Forgot to mention that I am a rookie when it comes to writing Reports, but your tips worked!!! I even managed to create the Totals by using the =count(name).

Thanks a million !!!
