Hi,
Is it possible to set up a TCP/IP network between a Win98 PC and a Sparcstation 5 [2.5.1], using 2 network cards and a crossover cable? i.e. no hub
Many thanks.

Dont see why not, just swap the TX an RX pairs around. dont make the cable to short, it should not less than 3Mtrs.

Yes it can work fine.. just remember to get each of the workstations default gateways set up and the default route for the Sparc.

There is a limit on the cross over cable but it's not 3 meters. If it is built to cat5, it's 100 meters. You can either make it or buy it. I've seen them run about 20 bucks for 20-50 feet of cabling.

Actually, I think bob was referring to the minimum length, which would be 1 meter.
