I HAVE A SCO UNIX SYSTEM WITH A COUPLE OF SIMPLE SHELL SCRIPTS RUNNING ON A NIGHTLY BASIS IN THE CRONTAB. IN LOOKING THROUGH THE CRON LOG I HAVE NOTICED THAT ON SOME EVENINGS THE JOB FIRES TWICE WITHIN A SECOND OF EACH OTHER. IN THE LOG I ALSO NOTICED THAT THERE ARE OTHER CRON JOBS THAT ARE ALSO RUNNING TWICE. HAS ANYONE EVER HEARD OF THIS OR KNOW THE CAUSE OF THIS?

If 5.0.4 or 5.0.5 there is a cron problem that is fixed with a patch.

Do you know what the patch is that fixes the cron problem?

The version I am having this problem with is 3.2v5.0.6

5.0.6 also was covered by the patch. But didn't affect me so I forgot to include it.
Run a google search for '"cron jobs" twice' and see the microlite site or try the pcunix site(google on aplawrence) and see the comments on the problem.

Have you stopped and restarted the cron daemon since this problem came up?

I have run into a variation of this problem before. It was caused by someone thinking they had deleted a cron job, but the had done it through direct editing of the crontab, rather than doing a crontab -e. Stopping and restarting the cron daemon fixed it.
