I keep haveing trouble with my cc transactions. The constantly keep "failing to initialize modem" and "transaction failed". The cards can swipe thru on the pos monitor and it goes in as a sale but they do not transfer over to the Aloha EDC so I can settle the batch. How do I get them to show up on EDC so I can settle the batch. Please reply in lamens terms so I can fix it myself. Thanks a ton.

Basically they are gone. You will need to manually enter all the cards into the EDC program after you get the modem or internet connection repaired.

I can easily fix the failed transactions tomorrow if you have alot of them and get you back online and resend them if you have internet.

Your best bet is to turn off your POS processing and spool EDC in mock authorization until you get the modem, EDC or internet connection repaired.

1. What version of Aloha are you on.
2. What processor.

And what operating system on your computer.

I am running Aloha 6.2.28 om windows 2000 pro with a CPU 2.40 GHtz

Check out my previous answer to aloha credit cards failing daily.

Using Win 2000 is a PCI violation. Moving to XP will result in same situation in April 2014 so get your POS on Win 7 asap. Let's hope you are not using PCA for remote access.

Thanks Coorsman, once again you are a genius. The Windows KB931128 (or whatever the one was from previous thread) update worked like a charm. Upgrading tower to Windows 7 in the next day or two then upgrading the Aloha system to current.

The windows update did fix my "failed to initialize modem" problem but now the card sales will not transfer to the BOH Aloha EDC. The print off and get signed, show up as sales in the EOD print sheet but they do not show up on the Aloha EDC so I have to manually enter each one and then settle batch. Any ideas as to why. I also have a new Windows 7 tower I am going to upgrade along with the software for Aloha. Any suggestions?

Your Edcsvr is not logging in with the se username and password as the terminals.

Yes you can, but if you have spooling files they will be pulled across from the terminals and sent thru to process.

1. Browse to each terminal and check the \aloha\edc folder. If there are *.spl files and a file called spooling delete them.

click on the start button then run - type in services.msc then enter.
look for edcsvr in the list on the right pane.
right click on edcsvr then select properties then select the logon tab.

if the local system account is set to local account then do the following.
select the button this account. Type in .\aloha for the account then password is hello. Click on restart - if the password is correct then it will restart, if not then the password is not hello and you will need to get the correct password from your dealer.

Coorsman
