Creative CD-RW Cd-Studio 8432

Help!!!!!!
When I insert my RW disc in Creative CD-RW Studio 8432, my computer gets freezed. I have to restart the computer. It happens every time. So, RW is not reading the RW disc.
I have upgraded to Nero 5.5 and Prassi abCD 1.6. Still, it's not working. Previously, I had no problem. I haven't made any change to the system (PIII 450). There is no problem in reading -R discs but I get message "burn failed".
Plaese advise me if anyone knows the answer.

Two peices of burning software on one system is not a good idea, they conflict and can course all sorts of weiredness.
Martin Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.

I deleted Prassi and also rebooted the system. Nothing changed.
