Creative 12x Ovation DVD troubles...

hello, i am running a t-bird 1 ghz machine with 256 PC-133 ram, 7200 rpm hard drive (on primary master), creative ovation dvd on secondary master, plextor plexwriter on secondary slave, diamond tnt2 ultra 32 MB AGP vid card, Sound Blaster 128 sound card, windows 2000 professional SP2, and when i play DVDs with the creative software they gave me (WinDVD), each movie runs choppy and sometimes pauses and has to re-think where its place is...its very annoying. I am not sure if it is just the drive, or maybe the software, or firmware...but there is no win2k updates for the firmware or drivers or anything from creative...

has anyone else experienced any trouble with this dvd drive? i couldnt get too much info on it...i thought it would be a nice dvd drive since the creative encore got such great reviews and everything...

any help, or info on tweaks or something i am missing...when the drive plays it looks to my hard drive as well...is it suppose to do that? is there some setting to enhance the dvd performance? or did i just make an unwise purchase?

I had one it did the same thing,until I got a DVD decoder card and installed it. I had a RealMagic Hollywood card. It worked great after that. There are other cards out there. I think Creative makes one.
