My situation is the following:
I am trying to create a SAS DSN.

I go to the DATA SERVICE (ODBC) icon.
I click on Add .

I then scroll down to and select SAS.

In the 'General' Window I entered the DSN name.
I tried to enter a server name but none exist
to I then CLICK on SERVERs.

Again I click on ADD.

A window comes up that has you add a servername.
I do. (sr20Name)

I try to go to the next line but I get an error message
saying the syntax is wrong. What is wrong?
I simply added the name as

sr20firefinch

I tried different combinations lower/upper case.
Nothing worked. The error box said 'See help'
I clicked on Help and the SAME error box
came up.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi sagn,

I think U are very new to this product.
First, You need to have installed "SAS ODBC driver" from the SAS System Installation setup disk.

Then, using ODBC U can try creating a new DSN for the SAS system.

I suggest that U go for the System Help of SAS that is prety discriptive and good in this regard.

U can ask the support of sas persons who can mail the html file specifically for this purpose. Or U can go to the http:\\ site and go to the FAQ to find the answers.

If U are still facing problem. I can provide with a much detailed, steps to be followed to solve this problem.
