Creating Labels

I'm using crystal report to create labels for production not sure if this is a smart idea but I don't know what else I can use, if anyone has another suggestion I would be happy to hear it.

Here is what I am done and here is where I am stuck...

The label is a 8.5 x 5.5 stick laserjet label.

2 per sheet to make a 8.5 x 11 lasersheet

my label uses Parameters, so when our users here put in a product code, the rest of the label is filled out with the Database.

Now my problem is A I don't' know how to get this label to repeat I can get one label to display but for example if we need 40 label for 40 boxes we are producing I don't' know how to tell it print 40 unless i use the print command and select 40, but here is why I can't do this. I wanted to have a consecutive numbering for the boxes so each label in the top corner it would state: box1, box 2, box3 ..... I can't figure this out either, I was thinking maybe using page # but since their is 2 labels a sheet the next page would be page #2 but yet label 3.

2 more areas of questioning, some of our product are UL approved therefore I want to place the UL logo (jpg)on the label only if our product starts with either "P" or "H" and last but certainly not least actually most confusing. I am also adding QRCODES to each label therefore when the user enters the product code I would like the system to go into my directory of QRCODES/BARCODES and place the (product specific) jpg also on the label. Lots of questions but my 1st step is the box#'s and the repeating functions. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

See faq767-3227 for a method to duplicate labels. You should be able to add a running total that evaluates for each record and resets on change of product code to get the consecutive box #.

Regarding the logo, I think you could place it on the label and then suppress it conditionally with: {Product.Name}[1] <> ["P","H"].

I can't help with barcodes, but you might try doing a search on that.

Thanks for the info I'll give it a shot, all my bar-codes (5000) of them are made and save as a jpg in a folder, I'll experiment with the above suggestion hopefully I can get the results I'm looking for.

The barcodes shouldn't be too much of a problem, but I do not know your situation

There there are barcodes fonts out there.

Just create a formula like

"*" & {your.field} & "*"

and change the font to the barcode font.

The pictures shouldn't be too difficult either.

Insert a picture, right click the object, and select 'Format graphic' Click the picture tab, and in the 'graphic location' formula create a string that equates to your (dynamic) picture path

"C:\pix\CBSig.JPG"

or

"C:\pix\" & {?Product} & ".jpg"

"\\server\directory\Pictures\" & {Table.field} & ".jpg"

Hope that helps

Kai.

Thanks but I'm lost in one area.

"Insert a picture, right click the object, and select 'Format graphic' Click the picture tab, and in the 'graphic location' "

I'm using crystal 10 and I don't have a "graphic location" option

basically I added a barcode (which is a jog image) on the label then I need this barcode to change according to the product code. I have a folder of 5000 jpg's for our 5000 unique products I just want to have these automatically updated when the user enters in the product code.

Thanks
